Literature Text

Once upon a time a bluebird
Had a fear of falling
Wings clutching tree boughs tightly
She hid from the world's calling.

Suns rose, set, night in-between
Spring melted into memory
Terrified of being broken
She never left that tree.

One day a song mesmerized her
She was filled with its melody
One day a guitar entranced a bluebird
A million miles below her feet.

Then branches broke, her world fell through
And the tears, they wouldn't stop
But she believed in the guitar's song
And at the bottom, she was caught.

Winter snow blots out her past
Time alone like liquid ice
She promised herself to follow his footprints
When she learned to fly.

The guitar is now so far away
Life's humor is irony
But there is something to be said
For setting music free.

Only now can she see
How the branches, they left scars
Only now does she believe
She's happier they did part.

Sometimes she hears the songs
And regret drowns her in misery
She's come to think this thing called Fate
Isn't all it's cracked up to be.

Once upon a time a girl
Learned to despise the sun
At when at last it did set
Her deal with the devil was done.

But always in her sky
Although so often forgot
Were stars among the nothingness
An eternity to be sought.

The winters now are colder
And the wind blows harder too
But I think that she might stay a while
If you hold her close to you.

Chasing not songs, but stardust
Help her walk on her own two feet
Help remind her bluebird heart
How to live high and fly free.
Three words to describe life; it goes on.

Couldn't have said it better, Mr. Frost.
